Steller’s Jay

The Steller’s Jay (Cyanocitta stelleri) is a medium-sized bird occurring in western North America from Alaska to Nicaragua. The species prefers coniferous forests as habitats, but occasionally it is also seen in other forests, gardens, and agricultural areas. The birds are omnivores feeding on seeds, nuts, berries, invertebrates, small rodents, lizards, and eggs. I have photographed these pretty birds inYosemite National Park, California, in October 2009. I hope you like the post – it is the 100th! 🙂
