Germany 2017: Erlangen

Erlangen, Bavaria:

At the beginning of May, I had to spend a couple of days at the University of Erlangen.

Erlangen is a city with about 110,000 inhabitants situated ca. 20 km north of the better known Nuremberg in northern Bavaria. The city’s life is characterized by the university and its almost 30,000 students as well as by offices of the Siemens AG. Since the weather was fantastic, I spent saturday afternoon strolling through the city centre with its historic buildings. I also visited the botanical garden and the beer gardens which would host the popular Bergkirchweih (a beer festival) in June.

Generally, Erlangen does not have any major sights – but with nice sunshine, it can be quite charming after all.
